Data tracked

Square Golf tracks 18 data points across three categories, covering every part of your game from putting to driving.

Ball data

• Ball speed: the speed of the ball immediately after impact
• Launch angle: the vertical angle the ball takes off at
• Launch direction: the horizontal angle (left or right) of the ball's initial flight
• Spin rate (backspin & sidespin): how much the ball is spinning, which dictates lift and shot curvature
• Apex: the highest point of the ball's flight
• Carry distance: how far the ball travels in the air
• Run: how much the ball rolls after landing
• Total distance: the sum of carry and run
• Smash factor: a calculation of energy transfer

Club data

To read club data, apply the included reflective stickers to your club shaft and clubface.

• Club path: the direction the clubhead is moving at impact (in-to-out or out-to-in)
• Face angle: the direction the clubface is pointing at impact (open or closed relative to the target)
• Dynamic loft: the loft of the clubface at the exact moment of impact
• Angle of attack: whether you are striking down (negative) or hitting up (positive) on the ball
• Impact location: exactly where on the clubface you struck the ball

Putting data

Square Golf is made by the same company as ExPutt, so it benefits from their expertise in putting analysis. The unit tracks:

• Ball speed
• Direction
• Total distance

Software and course play

Most launch monitors unlock their full feature set only with a monthly or annual subscription. Square Golf is one of the few brands with no subscription model — instead it operates on a pay-as-you-play credit system, where credits are used to unlock more features and courses. The unit comes with enough credits included to play 55 rounds before you need to purchase more.

If you want to play real golf courses such as St Andrews or Pebble Beach, you'll need third-party simulator software such as:

• E6 Connect
• GSPro (Golf Simulator Pro)
• Awesome Golf

These give access to a large library of additional real golf courses, but are a separate cost and in some cases require a suitably powerful PC to run.

Setting up your device

Square Golf is for indoor use only — keep it out of direct sunlight.

To set up your Square Golf launch monitor, place it on flat ground at the same height as the golf ball. Use it in a room with little to no sunlight, as direct sunlight can affect performance, and avoid pointing the front of the unit toward a sunlit window. The device captures ball and club data using high-speed cameras and built-in infrared LED lighting.

Optional extras

An official metal protective case is available as an add-on, to protect your Square Golf launch monitor from wayward shots.

Warranty

Square Golf carries a 2-year limited warranty covering defects in materials or workmanship on the device itself. This excludes damage from misuse, modification, accidents or natural events. During the warranty period, Square Golf will repair or replace the unit with a new or refurbished one. For any issues, please contact the manufacturer directly.
